Requirements and Eligibility

Students in the UBC–Sciences Po Dual Degree program are bright, enthusiastic individuals who have a keen interest in global affairs and perspectives, and seek to solve the challenges we face by applying knowledge from across the social sciences and humanities.

Eligibility

The UBC Sciences Po Dual Degree program is open to domestic and international applicants applying from secondary school. The program is not open to students with a previous degree or students who have already completed some post-secondary studies; the sole exception is for students at a Cégep in Québec. French fluency is not required for the Dual Degree unless you are choosing to study in the Europe-Africa program in Reims.

If you are unsuccessful in your application to the Dual Degree program, you will be automatically considered for admission to UBC’s regular BA program. For consideration to the Sciences Po BA program (and not UBC), please apply to Sciences Po directly.

General Admission and Program-Specific Requirements

All students applying to the UBC Sciences Po Dual Degree program must meet UBC’s general admission requirements and program-specific requirements for the Faculty of Arts. Applicants must also provide proof of English language competency.

Requirements differ based on where you are applying from, or the type of secondary school program. To find out what your general admission and program-specific requirements are, see the pages below and look for “Arts”:

Supplemental Application

All applicants to the UBC Sciences Po Dual Degree program are required to submit a supplemental application, which is found online at the program website. You will be asked to submit some personal information, a written response, curriculum vitae (CV), and copies of your academic transcripts. Read more about the supplemental application, what is required, and some helpful tips on submitting your application. Applicants are assessed on a combination of their academic achievement, intellectual readiness, and fit for the program.

The supplemental application deadline is January 15, 2024.

Shortlist Interview

All applicants will be notified in mid-February about the status of their application. If you are shortlisted for the Dual Degree program, you will be invited to virtually meet with representatives from both UBC and Sciences Po for an interview. This virtual interview is required for all shortlisted applicants, and you will be asked to indicate where in the world you will be between mid February to early March for scheduling purposes in the supplemental application.  All interviews will be conducted online.

Unsuccessful applicants will also be notified of their ongoing consideration for the regular UBC BA program.
